FMGE

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is the primary organization to conduct the Screening Test for Foreign Medical Graduates who want to practice in India. As per the regulation of FMGE, “ Any Indian students or foreign students pursue a medical degree awarded by any recognized abroad medical universities. Candidates need to qualify FMGE test if they want to be desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India now known as National Medical Commission (NMC) or any other State Medical Council.

The screening test for The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) as per Screening Test regulations 2002. Students who are from India or any other country and possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian embassy of the particular countries concerned to be an approved qualification for enrolment as a medical practitioner in the particular country in which the institution providing the said qualification is located can eligible to apply for FMGE provided that the result of the final year on or before the prescribed cut-off date for a particular session of FMGE test.

The candidates who have both the Eligibility Certificate and the Provisional Pass medical degree certificate of Primary medical qualification. Students can visit the National Medical Commission's official site for the Screening test guidelines.

FMGE Eligibility Criteria

Following are some important eligibility criteria for the FMGE test in order to appear in the upcoming exam:

  • Applicants must be either Indian citizens or foreigners eligible for applying to FMGE.
  • Aspirants should obtain a medical degree from a medical institution that is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) & World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Aspirants must obtain their MBBS degree before the ascertained period for a particular session.
  • Aspirants need to provide the right documents in support of the principal medical education from the foreign medical universities concerned.

  • Applicants should FMGE application form very carefully, all the information by the applicant must be correct.
  • After filling out the application form you can pay exam fees online via Net Banking/Credit card or debit card.
  • The applicant must check all the information to check in order to ensure the successful submission of your application form.
  • Must save & keep the final print of the application form.
  • Applicants will receive a confirmation email from NBE on their given email IDs.

FMGE Exam Pattern: Subject-wise Distribution of Marks

FMGE exam will be conducted in two parts. Both parts have separate question papers on different subjects. The 1st part of the exam will contain questions on Pre-Clinical and Para-Clinical subjects. The below table is the distribution of marks for each of these subjects:
