Sikkim is a state situated in northeast India that is bordered by Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibet and is known as an area of dramatic landscapes. The name ‘Sikkim’ comes from the word su him which means ‘new house’. The capital of Sikkim is Gangtok. • The candidate must have citizenship in India.

Admission process for MBBS in Sikkim

Candidates willing to get admission to Sikkim Manipal University must obtain minimum qualifying marks as decided by the authority. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) offers 150 seats to medical candidates wishing to get admission there. 

• First, one has to visit the official website of Sikkim Manipal University at smu.edu.in.
• After the declaration of your NEET results, you can fill out the application form.
• Fill in the asked details in the application form along with the relevant asked documents such as the NEET scorecard, NEET rank, personal details, academic details, parents’ details, and other asked details.
• Upload your signature and your photographs as per asked.
• Review all your documents and details then click on submit.
• The page will then supervise you towards the payment process, you have to pay the registration fees of 1000 INR  in online mode via net banking or any other online mode.

Counseling- The counseling for Sikkim Manipal University is done by the State Government of Sikkim for MBBS. The counseling for MBBS admission is done in an offline mode on the basis of availability of seats, merit rank, reservation criteria, and many other factors. Sikkim has many states that offer different-different professional degrees but sadly Sikkim does not have any state that offers a government medical college for MBBS. According to the NMC’s report, there is only one medical college for MBBS  in Sikkim and that is also private.

Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Medical Sciences of Gangtok is the only private institute for MBBS in Sikkim that is affiliated with the Sikkim Manipal University and is recognized by the MCI ( Medical Council of India). The college was established in 1997 and comprises 18 courses and 5 degrees. The university is approved by the NMC with a campus area of 25 acres. Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Medical Sciences offers various different courses for undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. Various courses such as MBBS, MS, MD, etc are available in the college. 

• Admission for the MBBS course is done on the basis of the NEET scorecard. 
• A person wishing to apply in any of these courses can download and fill in the application form, from its official website.
