NExT

National Exit Test (NExT), is now a examination for final-year MBBS students in India or Abroad to obtain a license to practice will be held from thisyear onwards. Only those who pass this NExT Exam would be able to practice medicine in India.

The NExT exam has now been made mandatory for MBBS Graduates. In August 2019, the Lok Sabha lower house of Parliament passed the National Medical Commission Bill 2019, which states that MBBS Graduates in India will be required to appear in National Exit Test(NExT) exam. 

NExT is to replace the existing FMGE exam. FMGE was compulsory for those students who pursue MBBS courses Abroad. But Now the NExT exam is compulsory for all students who have done their MBBS course aiming for practice in India, Indian MBBS Students, and Abroad MBBS Students. NExT is a licensing test for those students who want to practice medicine all over India. Also NExT will be an entrance to Post graduation courses.

After passing the NExT exams you can add the Dr. title before your name and prcatice in India. Nowadays, Dr. is the most prestigious & reputed profession.
 

Important Aims of the NExT Exam is to provide the below needs: 

  • The objective of the NExT exam is to provide licenses to MBBS graduates for practising Medicine In India.
  • NExT will be an entrance to Post graduation courses such as MS, MD, etc.
  • Now Abroad Students do not require to clear the FMGE exam anymore and NEET PG Entrance Exam separately.

NExT Exam mode

The NExT Exam is conducted by the National Board of Examination. The NExT exam is comprised basically of two formats: Theory (NExT-1) and practical (NExT-2). 
 

NExT: Step1- 

The NExT 1 is to replace MBBS final-year exam. Students will appear in NExT-1 after the final year exam and before starting the internship program. This theory exam is based on the form of  Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and it's an online exam. All 19 subjects by the MCI curriculum are included in the exam. 

Those students who will pass the NExT 1 exam will start their Internship. Also, The score in the NExT exam will be very useful to get PG seats in Government or Private medical colleges in India. 

The qualifying percentage for the NExT exam will be 50%. The scorecard of the NExT 1 exam is valid for 3 years, So you can apply for PG courses after completing your internship with the same score. 
 

NExT: Step2- 

Students who successfully passed the NExT 1 exam will be eligible for the NExT 2 exam. NExT 2 is a practical & oral-based examination at the end of the Internship. NExT 2 is a pass-or-fail type exam.

Note: Students get unlimited attempts in the NExT exam.
 

Eligibility for the NExT exam

  • Students must possess a valid MBBS degree from a recognized University. 
  • Students must pass their MBBS degree with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • There is no age limit for candidates.

More skilled and qualified MBBS graduate Students make a difference in Indian Medical society. It also helps government will be able to regulate the quality and expertise of MBBS graduate Students. 

NExT exam also helps to identify MBBS graduates Students fulfil all requirements to be successful Doctors. Through the NExT exam, it is possible to develop the condition of the rural areas of India, NExT exam qualified Students will be required to have to practice for 3 years in the rural and tribal areas. 

Earlier Many Indian students who pursue their MBBS courses Abroad and foreign students who targeting to pursue careers in Indian Hospitals or wanted to open their own personal clinics in India were required to Clear the FMGE exam. Which is complex, heavy paperwork and time are taken.
